Masked Ball at Wargrave

Masked ball 1795

Another delightful description of a masked ball comes courtesy of the Public Advertiser of the 1st October 1790. This particular ball occurred in Wargrave, a village in Berkshire. I do like the author’s account of patrons dressing in carriages and the two Miss Cravens whose own peculiar attire seems to have left the other guests scratching their heads.
